State Classified Salary Increase for FY18

State Classified Salary Adjustments

Fiscal Year 2018 salary adjustments for Classified Staff include an Across the Board salary adjustment as well as Merit Pay increases, as outlined below:

  • An ‘Across the Board’ adjustment of 1.75% base salary increase up to the new revised range maximum for all classified employees hired prior to July 1, 2017.
  • A Merit Pay increase based on an eligible employee’s performance rating and the placement of the employee’s salary within the salary range (as of June 1, 2017). Merit Pay is prorated for employees hired during the 2016-17 performance cycle.

These increases are cumulative in nature – the 1.75% increase will be added to the current base pay and any Merit Pay calculation will be based on the new total. The Merit Pay component is base-building if the employee is in quartiles 1, 2 or 3 of the salary range but is a one-time payment if the employee’s salary is in the 4th quartile or above pay range maximum. The Merit Pay structure is as follows:

*Employees in the 4th quartile and in saved pay situations will be paid a one-time merit payment, if eligible, and will not receive a base salary merit increase.

Additionally, we have published the current compensation plan (FY17) divided into quartiles to align with the merit pay model. You can view the plan by title and quartile on the State Classified Classification and Compensation page.

The pay ranges for all job classes will be adjusted upward 2.2% for FY18. If an employee’s salary is below the new pay range minimum after receiving the FY18 salary increase, the individual’s pay will be increased to the new minimum. The FY18 compensation plan is posted at http://hrs.colostate.edu/compensation/classification-sc.html.
