Legislative Changes Concerning Exempting Positions from the State Classified System

Current State Classified Employees

Recent legislation has provided Colorado institutions of higher education the ability to move certain State Classified positions out of the State Personnel system and into the CSU Administrative Professional (AP) category.  

While actual position transitions will not begin until January 1st, we are providing the list of eligible classifications now so that we may address any questions or concerns.

Beginning January 1, 2013, and continuously thereafter, incumbents in eligible classifications may elect to become Administrative Professionals. The decision is at the employee’s discretion.  Neither CSU nor any of its departments or agencies may elect this change for employees, who may choose to retain their State Classified classification as long as they remain in those positions.

After January 1, all vacant positions and newly created positions with titles appearing on the list will be filled exclusively as AP assignments.
